Dan Mangold

About
Mr. Dan Mangold currently serves as Co-Director of Bands at MOC-Floyd Valley High School in Orange City, Iowa where he conducts the 11th-12th Symphonic Band, directs Dutchmen Jazz 2, teaches courses in Music Appreciation and Music Fundamentals, and is Co-Director of the Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band. Ensembles under his direction have received Division 1 ratings at the Iowa High School Music Association state festivals in both concert band and jazz band. During his tenure, The Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band has received many class and finalist awards at competitions in Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Nebraska and was Class A Championships and the 6th place finalist at the Bands of America Iowa Regional in 2022.
Prior to coming to MOC-Floyd Valley High School, Mr. Mangold served as Director of Bands at MOC-Floyd Valley Middle School in Alton, Iowa and before that as Director of Bands at Sioux Central Community Schools in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
Mr. Mangold earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, and a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa.
Mr. Mangold in a member of the Iowa Bandmasters Association and the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters Association, where he currently serves as district treasurer. He also serves as an adjudicator for the Iowa High School Music Association.
In addition, Mr. Mangold is associate principal trumpet for the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra and the director of the Orange City Community Band. He has been the pit orchestra director for Tulip Festival Night Show Productions of Beauty and the Beast in 2018 and 2019 and Mary Poppins in 2015.
